High Desert Museum: Wildlife Interpretation Intern

35 hours/week (300 hours)

The High Desert Museum wildly excites and responsibly teaches through innovative, interdisciplinary experiences, creating connection to and dialogue about the High Desert.

A typical day…
A typical day will involve lots of talking and physical activity! This Wildlife Interpretation position will engage visitors with interpretive carts designed to teach visitors about the plants and animals that inhabit the High Desert. The intern will also be involved in husbandry activities for the animals such as cleaning and food preparation.

Skills learned…
The Intern will receive training in interpretation techniques and presentation skills, wildlife conservation and natural history content about plants and animals in the High Desert and basic animal husbandry skills.

Schedule and other details…
This position will work 8:30 – 4:30, 4-5 days per week. There is flexibility as to which days. Transportation to and from the museum is required.

Job requirements…
This position requires the willingness to talk to the public as well as animal care requirements such as cleaning (scooping poop!) and diet preparation. A passion for conservation is preferred.
